Students desiring the MQT Program Certificate are required to take 45 hours of Basic Traditional Chinese Medicine Theory. The student has several options for meeting this requirement and can chose the option that best suites his/her situation.

  • This class can be taken onsite at the ICMQ when it is offered.
  • Courses may be taken at any college or university, including online institutions. Courses in TCM that are approved for at least 3 semester credits will be accepted. 
CEU courses providing at least 45 hours will also be approved.
  • Students may do private tutoring with an acupuncturist designated by the ICMQ as a Content Expert. The acupuncturist must by licensed in the state of his/her residence. The Content Expert must agree to cover the outline of required subject material provided by the ICMQ, and must submit a written signed affidavit after the instruction verifying that the instruction took place. All Content Experts must be pre-approved by the ICMQ ahead of time, and documentation must be provided to verify the Content Expert meets requirements.

This requirement is not included in the student’s GPA.
